Kaitano Tembo, head coach of SuperSport United, and Forwardzone client has been working closely with Spanish Football League, LaLiga on a football masterclass during the Covid19 lockdown period.
While the Spanish league has resumed under new condition of play, the South African league has yet to resume play.
During this time, Kaitano and the team, have been working closely with LaLiga to develop opportunities for a program which looked into a seamless transition strategy for players moving from the academy into a first team environment, a holistic perspective to a game model and the team’s strategies, and the development of a proper management structure within the team, including the technical staff.
LaLiga South Africa Managing Director, Marcos Pelegrin also added his view on LaLiga’s objective behind this endeavour.
“Kaitano is definitely one of the best coaches in the PSL. What we appreciate the most about him is his thirst for knowledge and his forward thinking mentality,” Pelegrin added. “This is great opportunity also for LaLiga to gain more knowledge about South African football, as well as for Tembo to get to know more about our Spanish methodology. This mutual exchange of information is the first of its kind and will serve both countries well during this unusual time.”
Kaitano stated that “Education is key in the development of the game, and this can only be done by sharing knowledge with football experts and insiders from the game, LaLiga and its clubs are at the forefront of this. The ability to have a masterclass presented by LaLiga and its stakeholders allows for us to further develop our knowledge of the game. During these unprecedented times, we are able to adapt to new ways of learning and sharing insights, understanding the Spanish methodology and sharing our South African philosophy’s. Not only does this allow for my own development but for the team and my players.”
