The history of football was the focus of the day on Wednesday when A&E Networks Africa held the launch to the History of Football pop-up channel that will be aired on DSTv.

South African Football Legend, Lucas Radebe, joins a number of international football greats supporting the television event, as the Local History of Football Ambassador.

Speaking at the launch, Lucas spoke of how proud and honoured he was to have been named as the Local Ambassador of the History of Football television event. Lucas also shared what the history of football meant to him, as well as a personal account of “his” history with a story he’d never shared before, highlighting the essence of what the channel will be about – offering a unique insight into the history of fooball.

The History of Football pop-up channel goes live today and will run for two weeks.
