Over the past week, the launch of The Philips Cape Town to Cairo Road Show Began. On the 10th of May saw the start of the Philips/KNVB World Coaches program – Lighting up communities through Football, Kicking off at the YMO ST LUKES football club in Cape Town. The incentive brings together the KNVB World Coaching program and Philips Solar Powered Light centres. The 14th of May 2013, was the official Launch and display of the new solar powered lighting stations donated to the communities by Philips and KNVB. The Light Centres will create communal areas which can be used for sport as well as for many other important activities such as healthcare clinics, education and evening classes, social events, commercial activities etc. To Support the World coaches, Africa’s great football players travelled to Cape Town, the KNVB Legends included: Aron Winter, Nwankwo Kanu, Ogbonna Christopher Kanu, Ebede Ray, Manuel Bucuane, Tomas Inguane, and Manuel Monteiro. Local Coaches and teachers attended the World coaches program which was lead by KNVB instructor Evertjan Derks and assistant coach Francis Kimanzi Mbindyo. The Launch of the Philips/KNVB World Coaches program – Lighting up communities through Football continues it journey to Cairo with the next stop in Johannesburg at the Lion Park primary school, where the new lighting centre will be revealed tonight 16th of May 2013.
