This past week, the Northern Suburb Schools Cricket Night series took place at Montrose Primary School. Over the last 5 days , 400 young cricketers have participated in their respective age groups. The tournament age groups range from U8 to U13.
The Northern Suburbs Saturday Schools Cricket League (NSSSC) was established in 2010 by a number of Primary Schools in the Northern Suburbs of Johannesburg. The rationale behind this initiative was “to give as many talented young cricket players, from the member schools, an additional opportunity to play cricket”. Children must attend one of the member schools in order to be selected to attend the trials.
The Schools are divided into three groups according to their geographical location, North, Central or South. Each region selects 28 boys from the U8 to U13 age groups, at the end of July each year. These players receive coaching once a week and play in a cricket match on a Saturday. At the end of the year a tournament is hosted where each competes in their respective age groups
Sportsmans Warehouse is the proud sponsor of the NSSSC programme.
