Today we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the International Day of The Girl Child.

The theme for this year is, “Our Time Is Now — Our Rights, Our Future.” Girls are ready for a decade of accelerating forward and changing the game across all spheres in full force.

At Forwardzone we are proud to be playing an active role in investing in the Girl Child through the power of sport. Through tournaments such as the Discovery JVW Girls Football Knock-Out Cup, we are actively and continuously investing in girls’ football from grassroots levels, giving them opportunities to showcase their talent and potential to kickstart their careers.

The past 10 years of the JVW Girls Schools League program has seen many young talented footballers rise to the surface to showcase their abilities of becoming great footballers, and being able to take up careers in the sport. With over 3000 girls participating every year, the JVW Girls School League project has opened doors for many young athletes who have been scouted into the club and National teams throughout the years, and we are so proud to be a part of the growth of women’s football within the country.
