Banyana Banyana Head coach and client, Desiree Ellis, launched her book during an engaging and exciting evening at Exclusive Books, Sandton City on Tuesday, 30 May. Written by author Luke Alfred, the book titled “Magic” narrates the journey of Ellis’ playing days from neighbourhood football with the boys to the start of her professional career for the South African National Women’s Team.

The evening was led by Supersport’s Carol Tshabalala as the MC, where honourable guests were able to gain insights through a panel discussion, after which the floor was opened for questions. The audience was engaged from start to finish.

The book launch came with perfect timing as Banyana Banyana started to prepare for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia, New Zealand – not long after being crowned African Champions, after beating hosts Morocco, in the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Despite the challenges, Ellis has moved on to become a trailblazer and champion in the world of sport as acknowledged by the country and President himself.

If you haven’t got your hands on a copy of the book, get one now as we continue to admire Ellis paving the way for the National Team as they move closer to the highest stage in Football – The FIFA WWC.
