Janine van Wyk makes Scottish Impact

June, 2021

Banyana Banyana Captain Janine van Wyk was recognised for her contribution both on and off the field at Glasgow City FC’s 2020/21 Season Awards.

The awards capped off a successful season for both club and player.

After overcoming a MCL injury and a season thwarted with League delays due to the Covid-19 epidemic, Janine played a key role in Glasgow City’s successful league challenge that saw them crowned Scottish Women’s Premier League winners and securing a spot in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The awards evening was conducted on Thursday evening via social media, which has become a signature of the times.

Janine picked up the “Breathing Space Wellbeing Award” which is given to the player who is shown to support their fellow teammates.

Janine was also announced joint winner of the “Coaches Player of the Season” Award which she shared with Priscila Chinchilla.

Janine was also included in the 2020/21 Scottish Women’s Premier League Team of the Season.

Forwardzone wishes to congratulate Janine on her achievements this season.
