The KG Rabada Bowling Academy, a Forwardzone Group company, officially launched its 2026 programme with a successful opening session held in Gauteng, bringing together 25 aspiring fast bowlers for an afternoon dedicated to learning, development, and high-performance training.
Designed to identify and nurture the next generation of South African pace bowlers, the academy provides young athletes with access to world-class coaching, technical expertise, and development opportunities that support their growth both on and off the field.
The first session of the year focused on the core fundamentals of fast bowling, with participants progressing through dynamic warm-ups, biomechanical assessments, technical bowling drills, and high-intensity pace simulation exercises designed to replicate match conditions. The programme concluded with advanced skills training, including yorkers and slower-ball variations, equipping players with the tools required to build a complete fast-bowling skill set.
A key highlight of the day was the presence of academy founder and South African fast-bowling star, Kagiso Rabada. Fresh from an outstanding season in the Indian Premier League, where he claimed the Purple Cap with 29 wickets for Gujarat Titans, Rabada spent valuable time working directly with the young bowlers and sharing insights from his professional journey.
His hands-on involvement continues to be a defining feature of the academy and reflects its commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for aspiring cricketers. The programme is built on Rabada’s passion for developing future talent and ensuring young players receive access to the guidance, mentorship, and resources needed to maximise their potential.
While the academy’s first session focused on Gauteng-based participants, the vision extends far beyond the province. Plans are already underway to expand the programme’s footprint into outlying communities and underserved areas, creating pathways for talented young bowlers who may not otherwise have access to specialised coaching and development structures.

As the 2026 programme gathers momentum, the KG Rabada Bowling Academy remains committed to its mission of growing the game and helping shape the future of South African fast bowling.
A special thank you to our partners Red Bull, adidas South Africa, Gray-Nicolls, Lions Cricket, and Forwardzone for their continued support in helping create opportunities for the next generation of cricket talent.
