December, 2017

The Netherlands Consulate General in Cape Town hosted numerous soccer activations between 27 November and 01 December 2017 as part of the Volvo Ocean Race stopover in Cape Town. The events took place at the V&A Waterfront and included a week long KNVB WorldCoaches workshop and a legends game between legends from the Netherlands and from South Africa.

The Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) and South African Football association (SAFA) with the Dutch Consulate General organized a WorldCoaches Workshop which facilitated the training of 22 new coaches. On 1 December 2017, each coach was awarded a KNVB certificate at the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre. Coaches who successfully completed the course will also receive a SAFA coaching license.

The week was closed off with a 5-a-side legends game which included the likes of Pierre van Hooidonk, Eric Tinkler, Aaron Mokoena, Amanda Dlamini and Anouk Hoogendijk
