Forwardzone client Lucas Radebe and South African Chamber of Commerce have joined forces in support of the Solidarity Walk, a global fundraising challenge initiated by the South African Chamber of Commerce to raise funds for the Solidarity Fund in South Africa.
Commenting on Lucas’ appointment, Sharon Constançon, SA Chamber chairman, warmly welcomed his support, saying “We are thrilled that Lucas Radebe has become a Solidarity Walk Ambassador. It is an honour for the SA Chamber to have such an inspirational sportsman standing in solidarity with us for this fundraising challenge.”
As Solidarity Walk Ambassador Lucas is calling on South Africans at home and abroad, as well as friends of South Africa to come together and show their support and solidarity for South Africans affected by the COVID-19 pandemic by taking part in the virtual walk that aims to collectively cover a distance of 2,414 miles, the entire length of South Africa, from Cape Town to the Zimbabwe border, and back again.
Speaking in his capacity as a Solidarity Walk Ambassador, Lucas said, “The SA Chamber’s Solidarity Walk is a great way to show support for the Solidarity Fund. I will be walking in solidarity with the South African diaspora and friends of our nation who want to recognise the work of those helping the country overcome the pandemic”.
Commenting on the collaboration between the SA Chamber and Lucas, Ashley Kotzin, Forwardzone CEO, believes it’s a perfect fit, saying “Lucas is a person who believes in community and making a difference and the Solidarity Walk is an initiative that incorporates these elements through a call to action for people to come “together” for a great cause. The crossover between South Africa and the UK is also shared through Lucas’ status as a Bafana Bafana and Leeds United Legend, and the SA Chambers bi-lateral relations between South Africa and the UK”.
Lucas is joined by former Springbok legends, Francois Pienaar and Andre Snyman, multi-award winning South African music legend PJ Powers aka Thandeka and South African rock singer, songwriter, guitarist, composer and talk show host, Karen Zoid who have all come together as #SolidarityWalk Ambassadors.
