Lucas Radebe honoured at Leeds Centenary Celebrations

October, 2019

Lucas Radebe was one of several Leeds United legends to be honoured during the club’s centenary celebrations last week.

A centenary dinner was held on the 17th October 2019, marking the 100-year history of the club, with Lucas and several Leeds Legends in attendance.

Taking the celebrations to the field, Lucas Radebe was joined by other club Legends on the pitch prior to the team’s English Championship match against Birmingham on the Saturday.

Commemorating the milestone, Leeds United released a past, present, future photo taken in honour of the footballers that turned out in the coveted jersey, and those continuing the club’s legacy, with Lucas featured in the memorable image.

Lucas’ legendary status remains strong in Leeds.

Last year Lucas walked Josh Warrington into the ring before his IBF featherweight title fight. Lucas made the news again this year following a tweet in which a Leeds fan announced the naming of his newborn son after the former Leeds captain, sparking Lucas to trend on Twitter as fans shared their namesake stories.
