Lucas Radebe joins Global Citizen in city cleanup

September, 2018

Global Citizens came together on Saturday to clean up their city following a call from Global Citizen and the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) encouraging people to take action and make a difference.

Global Citizen Advocates, Lucas Radebe, former Bafana Bafana Captain and Leeds United Legend, and TV star, K Naomi, joined the Mayor of Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba, to inspire the citizens of Johannesburg to pick up litter in the city.

Over 600 people joined the cleanup to commemorate “World Cleanup Day” and also coincided with the “Annual Cleanup and Recycle SA Week” by participating in the cleanup.

The cleanup also formed part of Global Citizens continued movement to promote activisim within their communities, giving some participants who take part in all three cleanups in September, October and November the chance to win a VIP ticket to the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100.
