The University of Pretoria, got their first taste of European football in Holland last night when they took on PEC Zwolle’s Reserve Team at the IJsseldelta Stadion.
After a goalless first half, PEC Zwolle opened the scoring through a penalty in the 46th minute when Dimitri Ferfelis converted from the spot.
The University of Pretoria pulled a goal back in the 61st minute to make it 1-1 with a well taken back post header by Alan Robertson.
Two minutes later Dimitri Fertelis once again put his side in front with a well-taken goal in the 63rd minute.
Botshelo Mfulwane then equalised for the University of Pretoria in the 76th minute after a defensive error by PEC Zwolle saw Mfulwane go on to beat the keeper and put the ball in the back of the net to see the match end at 2-2.
Monday night’s match was the first of three friendlies that Amatuks will be playing during their tour in the Netherlands, which they were awarded after winning the inaugural MultiChoice Diski Challenge in February.
The University of Pretoria will take on SC Heerenveen in their second friendly on Wednesday evening.
