We are excited to have been a part of the pilot Premier Skills Physical Education Workshop in Alexandra for the past 4 days. The South African education system curriculum changes have resulted in Physical Education (PE) being removed as a stand-alone subject and incorporated into the Life Orientation & Life Skills curriculum. This has led to a drop in PE participation at schools due to a lack of trained PE practitioners and understanding of Physical Education.

It’s on this basis that the British Council and Premier League’s Premier Skills programme in South Africa started this workshop to help enhance Physical Education participation in schools. The participants were equipped with skills to become great physical education coaches and plan safe and purposeful physical education coaching sessions. We are proud to have been playing a supporting role in making this workshop a success.
