The second edition of the KAPPA Cup took place in Stellenbosch over the weekend of the 22 and 23 November 2014.
The tournament involved 11 local teams (Barca, Franshhoek, Idas Valley, Lokxion Stars, Kanonkop, Lynedoch, Newtons, Nietvoorbij, Maties) and 1 invitational team (Young Bafana).
The group stage matches took place on Saturday and saw Idas Valley, Stellenbosch University , Maties and Young Bafana finishing top of their groups. Idas Valley and Maties had an exciting encounter on Sunday in the first semi final which ended in a 1-1 draw with Idas Valley narrowly winning on penalties to secure their spot in the final. Stellenbosch University performed very well in the second semi final beating Young Bafana 4-0 to qualify for the final.
The final got off to an exciting start with an early opening goal from Stellenbosch University, quickly countered with a goal from Idas Valley. Idas Valley then pulled ahead by scoring a second goal which was immediately answered with a Stellenbosch University goal to pull the game level to 2-2.
The game remained this way till the end of play with the teams needing to go to a penalty shoot-out to determine the winner. The teams matched each other kick for kick in the shoot out until one of the Idas Valley players narrowly missed the target to see Stellenbosch University being crowned 2014 KAPPA Cup Champions.
The individual awards saw Shandro Hendricks of Idas Valley being crowned player of the tournament, Devino Meyer of Idas Valley crowned as goalkeeper of the tournament and Riyaaz Nell of Stellenbosch University the top goal scorer
