The Discovery High Schools Knockout Cup 2025 is more than just a football tournament – it’s a platform where young athletes aged 14–19 compete, grow, and build community. Sponsored by Discovery, this high school tournament builds on the success of the Discovery Primary Schools Knock-Out Cup, extending the company’s deep commitment to grassroots soccer into the secondary school space.
Since its extension to high schools, Discovery’s investment in school soccer has allowed more than 1,000 young players to participate in the annual knockout competition.
The 2025 edition follows a well-designed competition structure: preliminary rounds throughout August, leading up to the finals in September. This schedule keeps teams engaged over several weeks, offering players consistent competitive action and a real tournament atmosphere.
Celebrating 15 Years of Discovery Schools Soccer
2025 marks a special milestone – 15 years of Discovery Schools Soccer. Since its inception in 2009, the programme has grown from a small initiative into one of South Africa’s most influential youth sport platforms, touching tens of thousands of learners.
Celeste Williams, Head of Sponsorships at Discovery, emphasises the social value of the tournament:
