Another boost for women’s football with the second addition of The Women’s Heritage Cup, Powered By Forwardzone Media and one of our very one #TeamFZ members – Lerato Kabamba.

The Fiat Sports Complex in Soweto came alive in early December for the second edition of the Forwardzone Media Heritage Cup women’s football tournament, which saw eight Soweto Woman’s teams compete for bragging rights in Meadowlands on December 4, 2022.

The event is intended to shine a light on local women’s football, particularly as there are few community-based football events for women players. With interest in women’s sport at an all-time high, the aim is to use the tournament as a platform to showcase and develop the next Banyana Banyana stars and to encourage more women to participate in football.

“From this base is where future stars will be unearthed. My message to the eight teams is to come and reveal your talent but mostly enjoy yourselves.” – Kabamba

Apart from the opportunity to develop their talent, the winning team will be given kit, and equipment as prizes. Supporting future talent has always been core to our purpose and this event is testimony to that.
