The VW Train4Life programme is one like no other which aims to positively impact the lives of young females around the age of 15 years old. After 10 weeks of life skills training and weekly matches, the VW Train4Life programme came to a close as we held the Tournament Finals at the UJ Soweto Sports Complex main fields on Tuesday 17th September. The day consisted of two competitive matches as teams fought to come out on top in both the playoffs and the tournament finals respectively.
All teams were kitted with VW Train4Life 2024 kit in which they competed for the duration of the tournament, with the top four schools who participated in the playoffs and finals were all presented with a brand new pair of soccer boots courtesy of Volkswagen, as well as the winning team, Fedilitas Secondary School being awarded soccer training kits and equipment for their school. The programme, investment and contribution are all a testament to VW’s commitment to empowering and equipping these young female learners of our country.
But that’s not all…
The programme now in its third year focused on the Diepkloof community and incorporated a new mentorship program including bursaries to assist four talented young girls in taking the next step. These four winners will have the privilege of being mentored by Lerato Phago (SuperSport Football Broadcaster) and Xoli Zondo (5FM Sports presenter), as well as participate in a soccer training programme with the UJ’s 1st Ladies Soccer Team.
Further to this, it was brilliant to see VW ambassadors Lucas Radebe and Coach Desiree Ellis at the Finals on Tuesday and the impact they continue to have on the youth of our country. Their guidance, involvement and presence make the world of a difference.
We are proud to be a part of this initiative and contribute to the journey of so many young adults together with Volkswagen – not just a client but a true partner.
